William R. Lorton, 81 of Springfield, formerly of Auburn passed away Monday, June 15, 2026 at his home.
He was born January 19, 1945 in Springfield, the son of Bandy and Kathryn McLaughlin Lorton. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, F. Jay Lorton.
William married Clare Biagi in 1984 in Springfield.
William served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from April 1966 to June 1978.
Surviving are his loving wife, Clare; two children, Janie and Alan; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one sister, Nicole Lorton; special niece, Chauntelle and several nieces and nephews.
Internment of ashes will be held at 1pm, Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield with military honors conducted by Sangamon County InterVeterans.
