Sarah Loraine Manship

Sarah Loraine Manship, 95 of Auburn passed away Friday, March 31, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. 

She was born May 8, 1927 in Waverly, the daughter of Delbert and Ola Hart Pitchford. 

Loraine married Fred J. Manship on July 23, 1950. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Nicholson; a sister, Hazel Nelson; and a brother Harold Pitchford. 

She was a member of Auburn Christian Church, the Red Hat Club, and volunteer at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Loraine enjoyed travelling with her husband, Fred of 72 years, visiting all 50 states. They also enjoyed their time square dancing. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and cooking family dinners every Sunday for them. 

Surviving are her husband, Fred; four daughters, Alice (Roger) Bettis, Nancy (Del) McCord, Wanda (Charles) Crump, and Marjorie (Kenneth) Millburg; one son, Fred Eugene (Carla) Manship; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; one sister, Wilma Knapp; one brother Raymond Pitchford; a sister-in-law, Kay Kendall; a brother-in-law, Jim (Diane) Manship; several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 1 pm until time of memorial service at 2 pm at Auburn Christian Church with Rev. Josh Mangano officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to Auburn Christian Church or American Cancer Society.
