Ruby Klein Obituary

Ruby Jewel Klein, 87 passed away on Monday, Feb. 27, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. 

She was born Aug. 8, 1935 in Cleaton, KY, the daughter of James Tilford and Pearl Flener Kyle.

She married John O. Klein in 1985.  She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Melvin and William; one sister, Joyce Casebier and ex-husband, Ellis Hutcheson.

Ruby grew up in the coal mining area of Cleaton, KY and moved to Virden, IL in her teen years.  She graduated from Virden High School in 1953.  She retired from the Springfield City Street Department (Public Works) in 1996.  She had such strength and perseverance throughout life and was the most loving, giving person who wanted the most for her family.  Ruby enjoyed every minute of retirement with her husband.  She and John were never apart and loved socializing with family and friends along with winters in Florida.  She had the most wonderful gift of growing produce and flowers.  She canned and pickled everything and nothing ever went to waste.  She was known for her delicious southern cooking, especially her wonderful pies.  Her beautiful smile, blue eyes, and positive personality will always be missed.

Surviving are her husband, John O. Klein; her children, Gregory (Kerrie) Hutcheson of Cedar Hill, TX, Douglas (Sissy) Hutcheson of Thayer, IL, Dr. Warren Hutcheson of Fort Myers, FL, Allen (Sue) Hutcheson of Williamsville, IL, and Julie (Randall) Robbs of Sherman, IL; stepdaughters, Janie (David) Dellinger of Irmo, SC and Bridget (Rich) Widmaier of Marshville, NC; 15 grandchildren, Patrick, Sean, Jonathon, Andrew, Mason, Amber, Austin, Ethan, Jewel, Joseph, Shelby (Clint), Kaitlyn, Tyler, Nathan and Grace and 2 great-grandchildren, Sophia and Cooper; sister, Maxie Jean (James) Deering of Winterville, GA; many nieces and nephews; and the family of the late Logan and Virginia Ladage – Shirley Emerson, Logan (Ellen) Ladage, Jr., and Barbara (Bob) Braswell who are such special part of the family.

Graveside services will be at 11am, Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Brush Creek Cemetery in Divernon.
