Ronald Dowson Obituary

Ronald Dowson, 85 of Auburn passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born July 18, 1940 the son of Lucille and Harold (Freck) Dowson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leigh Ann Rogalski; two brothers, Thomas “Ted” Dowson and Larry Dowson.

Ron married Edwina Harvey on May 4, 1963.

Ron was a 3rd generation family farmer alongside his brothers. He was an avid Dodgers fan. He was a Charter Member of Sugar Creek United Methodist Church serving on many committees during his life.

Surviving are his wife Edwina; daughter, Lori (Tom) Cross; three sons, Denny (Sharon) Dowson, Joe (Alethea) Dowson and Jim (Kadence Koen) Dowson; son-in-law, Bill Rogalski; grandchildren, Kelly (Jordan) Wright, Emma (Matt) Latham, Will Cross, Noah (Courtney) Cross, Erica (Nathan) King, Cami (Tyler) Beckerman, Dakota (Emma) Dowson, Alyssa Rogalski, Justin Rogalski, Shelby Dowson, Kyle Dowson, Abbi Brummett, Grace Brummett, Tyrus Thomason, Parker Thomason; 13 great grandchildren with two on the way;  sister, Martha Sue (Bill) Boston of Roodhouse; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, September 26, 2025 from 4 pm till 7 pm at Sugar Creek United Methodist Church in Chatham. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at the church with Pastor Paul Dinges officiating. Burial will follow at Cumberland Sugar Creek Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Sugar Creek United Methodist Church or Alzheimer's Association.
