Regina Cain Obituary

Regina C. Cain, 97 of Girard, formerly of Divernon and Springfield, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022 at her home at Pleasant Dale Place in Girard.

She was born Nov. 7, 1924 in Divernon, the daughter of Mike and Esther Szoke Samodai. She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, three brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Cain graduated from Divernon High School and Brown’s Business College, Springfield. She was formerly employed by the Illinois Education Association; Federal Housing Administration; Senatorial Secretary for 2 state senators; retiring from the Department of Corrections in February 1990.

Surviving are her husband, James, whom she married in 1949 in Springfield; two sons, David (Janice) Cain of Girard and Robert (Michelle) Cain of Springfield; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Michael Samodai, Port St. Lucie, FL; several nieces and nephews.

Remains will be cremated.

Private graveside services will be held in Brush Creek Cemetery, Divernon.
