Patsy Ann Dodd, 90, of Springfield (formerly of Pawnee, IL), passed away Saturday, Oct 9, 2021, at The Villas Senior Care Community, in Sherman.
She was born February 27, 1931, to Harry and Ruby (Jordan) Nix in Unity, IL.
Patsy married Roy E. Dodd May 14, 1954, in Pawnee. Patsy, a full-time homemaker and part-time business-woman, proudly owned and operated Dodd Gas Service, Inc. with Roy until selling the business and retiring to Florida in 1986, where they played golf year-round and lived close enough to Disney to entice their grandchildren to visit at every opportunity. Patsy, Roy, and their grandchildren enjoyed many “driving lessons” in their golf cart around the community during these days.
In 2001, Patsy and Roy returned to Central Illinois to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Patsy enjoyed traveling, golfing, crafting, sewing, making jewelry and painting - especially hand-painting Christmas ornaments to adorn the trees of her family and friends.
Patsy also loved playing a game of Yahtzee or “500”/Rummy with her family and especially enjoyed teaching her grandchildren a thing or two about being a cardshark.
Patsy is preceded in death by Roy (in 2003), her parents, her brothers, Harry and Thomas Nix, and her granddaughter, Christina Bieser.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph (Karin Marks) Dodd of Imperial, MO, and Robert (Donna) Dodd, of Cantrall, IL; six grandchildren, Leigh (Keith) Weidner, Zachary Dodd, Kelly (Ashley) Ahart, Jared (Allison) Dodd, Brady Dodd, and Taylor Dodd; seven greatgrandchildren, Kori, Alexis and Trinity Ahart, Aiden and Jensen Bieser (father, Matty Bieser), and Emma and Sophie Dodd; her sister, Harriet Lamburth, of Ocean Springs, MS; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 18, 2021, at St. John Vianney Parish in Sherman with Reverend Frederick “Freddie” Chima Mbiere presiding. Burial will follow at Pawnee Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
