Norma Rakes Obituary

Norma J. Rakes, 88 of Auburn passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 at Heritage Health in Springfield.

She was born May 4, 1932 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Ralph and Dortha Highley Dozier.

She married Roy Rakes on Feb. 18, 1951 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1993. Also, preceded in death by a brother, Walt Dozier.

Surviving are one son, Scott (Kathryn) Rakes; one daughter, Rita (Rodger) Benson; three grandchildren, John (Rena Smith) Benson, Thomas (Jessica) Rakes, and Steven (Tracy) Rakes; three great grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Sue) Dozier; one sister, Sharon Mangold; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee, IL.

Memorials may be made to Auburn United Methodist Church or Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
