Michael D. Garvin

Michael D. Garvin, Sr. 81 of Auburn passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Arc at Sangamon Valley Springfield.

He was born March 12, 1945 in Springfield; the son of John Henry and Marguerite Lenora Thomason Garvin.

He married Sharon Dickman and she preceded him in death on October 23, 2025.  Also, preceded in death by two grandsons, Brent Garvin and Colin Ballard; siblings, Jerry, Paul, John, Helen Smith, Donna Asbell, Carol Lofquiest, Linda Sion and Virginia Amerantes.

Mike was a service station manager at ILICO Oil.  He later worked in the laborers union and retired from Local 965 of Operating Engineer.

He loved to do hayrack rides at Halloween and doing fireworks on the 4th of July.  He was part of the Irwin’s Park Revitalization.  He loved listening to Roy D. Mercer, George Jones, Gun Smoke and John Wayne movies.

Surviving are one son, Michael (Jennifer) Garvin, Jr; one daughter, Michele Garvin; four grandchildren, Megan (John) Spivey, Marissa (Aubrey), Mariela and Madilyn; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Karen (Jerry) Hirstein and Delores Parton; one brother, Donald Garvin; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10am till time of services at 11am, Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn with Rev. Martin Kaufmann officiating. Burial will follow in Auburn Cemetery.
