Mary Kay (Blankenship) Enrietta, 71 of Virden, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving children.
Mary Kay was born in Springfield, IL on January 27, 1950 a daughter to Lester and Mary Lucille (Feco) Blankenship. She married her true love David L. Enrietta on September 12, 1980 in Virden, IL.
After Mary Kay graduated from Girard Community High School in 1968, she started working at Pekin Insurance before undertaking an impressive career life working for various state and local agencies including Illinois State Police District 9, Illinois Eastern Community College Workforce Development, and Grand Prairie of the West Public Library District in Virden where she retired in 2012.
Mary Kay was active in several civic and social groups. She served as a volunteer at the UIS Auditorium, founding member of the Virden Band Boosters, member of the Grand Prairie of the West Library Board, and volunteer at Oak Leaf Country Club. Her other interests included attending her grandkids’ school and sporting events, cooking, gambling, sewing/cross-stitching, enjoying Saturday get-togethers and playing Bunco with her “Bunco Babes”.
Mary Kay is survived by her four children, Mary Jane Enrietta of Virden, Tony (Jen) Enrietta of Carlinville, Justin Enrietta of St. Louis, MO, and Nick Enrietta of Girard; six grandchildren, Maggie (Bryan) Huff, David, Jacqueline, Cash, Presley and Lennon Enrietta; and four great grandchildren, Bentley, Dylan, Isabella and Hank Huff; a brother, Lester Blankenship of Springfield, IL; a sister, Wilma Blankenship of Virden, IL; a sister-in-law, Shirley Blankenship of Virden, IL; several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, David L. Enrietta; sisters, Shirley Lewis and Geraldine Hullman; a brother, Ronald Blankenship.
Visitation will be from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn, IL. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am, Monday, January 24, 2022 also at Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn, IL. Interment will be in Virden Cemetery, Virden, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Grand Prairie of the West Public Library or Girard Fire & Rescue.
