Kevin Dean Martin, a cherished soul known for his handy skills, passionate heart, and wild spirit passed away in the early morning of July 13, 2024, in his hometown of Virden, IL.
Kevin was born June 12, 1965, the son of James and RoseMarie Grady Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Ollie and Nellie Martin and Tom and Rose Grady; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Professionally, Kevin was a jack of all trades. From welding, wood working, electrical, plumbing, mechanics (on vehicles, mowers, tractors you name it), he could do it all. Kevin’s hobbies were a reflection of his multifaceted personality. He enjoyed singing and was a soulful guitar player. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, grilling, and playing cards. And whether he admitted it or not, he loved setting up Christmas lights every year to be the brightest house on the block.
Kevin held many titles in his life but being a proud father and papa was by far his favorite. He loved nothing more than spending time with his adult children, grandchildren, and love of his life Susie. He was always there for them, whether he was cheering them on, helping them with a project, or teaching them some sort of life skills. While Kevin left us far too soon, the impact he had on all his family and friends will be felt for years to come.
Surviving are his children, Devin (Chelsie) Martin, Destaney Martin, Justin (Shayna) Copeland, and Holly (Dylan) Cody; grandchildren, Brodie Martin, Jaxon Cody, Greyson Cody, Lawrence Copeland, Haley Wyatt, and Nicholas Rice; great grandson, Hayden Kevin Lee Johnson; siblings, Michael (Pam) Martin, Patrick (Michelle) Martin, Bridgette Martin (Shannon), Chas (Billy) Albers, Tonya (Troy) Hobson, and Jennie Brookman; several nieces and nephews.
