Johnny J. Johnson, 69, of Divernon passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 6, 1948 in Springfield, the son of Russell and Betty Hart Johnson.
He married Kelly Hopkins on July 11, 1998.
Johnny served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he earned a Bronze Star, Air Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. He retired from the State of Illinois. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Illini fan.
Surviving are his wife, Kelly; two sons, Bryan Johnson and Jon Michael Hopkins; one sister, Jody (Dale) Schofield; two brothers, Terry (Kim) Johnson and Randy (Margret) Johnson; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. till 4 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Bramley Funeral Home, Divernon. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Monday at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Kurfman officiating with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army and Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. A Celebration of Life will follow the graveside service at the Corner Bar in Divernon.
