John O. Klein

John O. Klein, 81, of Springfield, IL, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2023, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Klein was born on May 20, 1941, in Springfield, IL, to Mildred and Oliver Klein.

He worked as a Resident Engineer for IDOT for 30 years and made numerous contributions to the transportation industry in Illinois.

He is survived by his children, Janie (David) Dellinger and Bridget (Richard) Widmaier, and step-children, Greg (Kerrie) Hutcheson, Doug (Sissy) Hutcheson, Warren Hutcheson, Allen (Sue) Hutcheson, and Julie (Randy) Robbs. He was also a beloved grandfather to Shelby, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Grace, Nathan, Jonathan, Andrew, Patrick, Sean, Mason, Amber, Austin, Joseph, Ethan, and Jewel, as well as great-grandfather to Sophia and Cooper. He is also survived by his siblings Barbara Weatherholt, Millie (John) Burks, Joe (Jan) Klein and Gretchen (Tom) Henson.

Mr. Klein was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Oliver Klein, wives Karna and Ruby Klein, and his brother Robert Klein.

A graveside service will be held at 11am on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Brush Creek Cemetery in Divernon, IL.
