Joan M. McCrady

Joan M. McCrady, 85 of Springfield, formerly of Divernon passed away Friday, May 12, 2023 at Springfield Memorial.

She was born July 4, 1937 in Woodside Township, the daughter of Clifford and Opal Phillips Cawley.

Joan married Ken McCrady on April 27, 1957 and he preceded her in death on September 24, 2020.  She was also preceded in death by one sister, Ann Piper.

Joan worked for the Divernon News for over 25 years.  She also worked for Oak Terrace Retirement Community and sold books for many years.  She loved to sew for people in the community and to bake.  Joan was a huge Illini Basketball and Tom Brady fan.

She was known to many as Nana.

Surviving are five sons, Raymond (Denise), Rodney (Debbie), Randy, Ryan (Jenna) and Rhett (Denise); ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four brothers, Howard (Donna), Dave (Ruth), Jim (Betty) and Fred (Janice); one sister, Marilyn Preval; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4pm till 7pm, Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Bramley Funeral Home, 150 Reichert Road, Divernon.  Memorial service will be Friday at 10am at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Wooden It Be Lovely.
