Jeffrey L. Brown

Jeffrey L. Brown 67 of Virden passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023 at Memorial Hospital.

He was born on April 16, 1956 to Grace E. (Irwin) and Roger L. Brown. Jeff attended St. Isidore’s Grade School and graduated from Lincolnwood High School in 1974.

Jeff married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Constance (Benning) on March 21, 1975, and together they had two children, Zachary and Jessica (McCurdy).

Jeff was a man who wore many hats throughout his life but lived his childhood dream of being a farmer. He worked construction, at Art’s Motel and Restaurant, Cargill Flour Mill, Farmer’s Pellet Company, and for the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Jeff enjoyed serving the community as a member of the Farmersville-Waggoner Volunteer Fire Department and was Chief for 33 years. He also was a member of the Farmersville-Waggoner Ambulance, Secretary for the Farmersville-Waggoner Fire Protection District, and as a board member of the Soil & Water (ASCS) Conservation District.

Jeff was a proud member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association. Over the years both Jeff and Connie competed in many trapshooting events including the Illinois State Shoot and the Grand American World Trapshooting Championships. Jeff achieved his goal of 100 straight in 2016.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife Connie, son Zachary, daughter Jessica (husband John), granddaughter Hanna, and grandsons John (J.J.) and Aaron. He is also survived by his sisters Debbie (Larry) Lucas and Liz Brown and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Grace Brown, and his brother Mark Brown.

Visitation will be held at Bramley Funeral Home, 150 Reichert Rd, Divernon, IL 62530 on Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 10 am until time of service at 2 pm. Burial will be at St. Martin’s Cemetery in Farmersville with a meal for family and friends at the K.C. Hall in Farmersville.

Memorials may be made to the Farmersville-Waggoner Volunteer Fire Department and the Farmersville-Waggoner Ambulance.
