Janice “Jan” Louise Hurley, 71, of Auburn, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield.
She was born April 18, 1951 in Springfield, the daughter of Glen Leroy Hurley and Mary Louise (Summers) Hurley.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Rhonda Krakosky and brothers, Gary Hurley and Rick Hurley.
Jan was 16 when she started her singing career, signing a five-year contract with Blue Boy Records and released multiple records. She played at the State Fair in Springfield, toured, appeared every other week on the Possum Holler Opry television program and was inducted into the Colorado Hall of Fame. Later, Jan worked at St. John’s hospital in Springfield and retired after many years of service. After retirement, she shared in her family’s restaurant, the Oasis Bar & Restaurant in Auburn.
Survivors include her daughter, Brandy (Matt) Brown of Auburn; extended family, Barb Henn of Auburn; Ed (Barb Hoodak) Henn of Waverly and Mike (Ellen Harlow) Henn of Florida; grandchildren, TJ Henn, Kody (Molly) Henn and Helen Henn; one great-grandchild, Taylyn Henn; brothers, Jerry (Joni Wendling) Hurley of Springfield, Glen Hurley, Jr. of Springfield, Bob (Pam) Hurley of Springfield and Terry (Jackie) Hurley of Fort Myers, Florida; sister, Betty Caswell of Springfield and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 27, 2023, at Bramley Funeral Home, 550 E. Jackson, Auburn, IL 62615 from 4-7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Bramley Funeral in Auburn at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Troy Easley officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.
