Janice C. Germann, 98, of Chatham, IL passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
She was born July 16, 1924 in Chatham, IL the daughter of Walter and Gertrude O’Keefe Clark.
She married Ernest Germann on September 13, 1941 and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, William Clark, Ellen Clark, Donald Clark, and Mary Margaret Gilreath.
Janice was very proud of being born and raised on the family farm south of Chatham, which was purchased by her great great grandfather from the federal government in 1836. He is one of the few Revolutionary War Veterans buried in the Chatham Cemetery.
She was a charter member of Sugar Creek United Methodist Church and also a member of D.A.R.
In retirement, Janice and Ernest traveled to all 50 states and Europe, gardened together, and enjoyed playing cards with grandkids and friends.
Surviving are one son, Clark (Barbara) Germann; one daughter, Margaret (Rick) Wilborn; five grandchildren: Clark’s three sons, Tim (Lina), Carl (Jillian) and Hans (Denitta) Germann, and Margaret’s two daughters, Polly (Daniel) Pinneaux and Katie (Michael) Welin; eight great grandchildren: Carl, Avery, Will, Orelia, Luca, Francis, Levi, and Owen; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of services at 10:30 am, Monday, August 22, 2022 at Sugar Creek United Methodist Church in Chatham with Rev. Paul Dinges officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Sugar Creek Cemetery in Glenarm.
