James "Jay" Downey

James “Jay” R. Downey, 89 of Farmersville passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025 at his home.

He was born September 30, 1935 in Olaton, KY the son of Kenneth and Geneva Daniels Downey.

Jay married Clara Ruzes on January 29, 1955 and she preceded him in death on March 12, 2012. Also, preceded by a son, Alan, and a brother, Cliff Downey.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Farmersville.

Surviving are one daughter, Sandy (Dave) Moffitt of Farmersville; two sons, Rick Downey of Farmersville and Terry (Cathie) Downey of Morrisonville; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
