James Cain Obituary

James A. Cain, 96 of Girard, formerly of Nilwood and Springfield, died Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 16, 1925 in Rochester, the son of Albert and Rose Duffey Cain.

James married Regina Samodai in 1949 and she preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 2022. Also, preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.

Surviving are two sons, David (Janice) Cain of Girard and Robert (Michelle) Cain of Springfield; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Michael Samodai of Port St. Lucie, FL; several nieces and nephews.

Remains will be cremated.

Private graveside services will be held in Brush Creek Cemetery, Divernon.

Memorials may be made to Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Rd, Springfield, IL 62702.
