Jack T. Roddy, 85 of Pawnee died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born April 22, 1936 in Modesto, CA, the son of Thomas L. “Jack” and Neva D. Gordon Roddy.
Jack married the love of his life, Rose Marie “Sue” Haas in 1958 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 2006.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
After the service he started his career in California as a journalist, writing articles and taking pictures for a newspaper. He fell in love with photography and through out his career had many of his pictures on covers of magazines. He also opened his own studio “Portraits of Love” in Belleville. He kept up with photography posting pictures on his page called “Looking Out My Back Window”. During his life he was also a carpenter, police officer and taught the mentally challenged.
His love was for the outdoors, fishing and most of all his family.
Surviving are one daughter, Debbie (Michael) Landrey of Pawnee; two sons, Jack Roddy of St. Louis, MO and Ed (Anita) Roddy of New Athens; five grandchildren, Josh, Zach and Matthew Roddy, James (Katy) Roddy and Jessica (Brandon) Bauer; five great-grandchildren, Marley, Dru, Ira, Dylan and Abby; two siblings, Jim Roddy and Belle Roddy.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Horse Creek Cemetery.
