Howard Bowen, 81 of Auburn passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 11, 1944 in Springfield, the son of Samuel and Clarine Dale Bowen. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Michael and Tommy; and brother-in-law, Jim Sergent.
Howard married Patricia “Patsy” Riecks on November 21, 1975.
Howard worked for Fiat-Allis until they closed. He worked as an EMT and was a past president for the Sangamac Ambulance District in Auburn. Following retirement from the school after over 20 years he continued to work as a playground supervisor where he touched many kids lives, often referring to him as grandpa.
Surviving are his wife, Patsy; one daughter, Aimee (Ben) Pritchard; one son, Kristopher Bowen; four grandchildren, Grace Bowen, Zach Darnell, Kali Bowen and Ashley Bowen; great-granddaughter, Paisley Vollmer; beloved cat, Tilly; one brother, Terry (Kathy) Bowen; one sister, Patty Sergent; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10am till time of services at 12pm, Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn with Rev. Don Pritchard officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Auburn School District.
