Gregory "Greg" Lee Lyons

Gregory “Greg” Lee Lyons, 67, of Glenarm passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 25, 1953 in Litchfield, the son of John and Sally Krager Lyons.  He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Lamar Nantkes and Olyn Brockmeyer; one sister, Jean Wankum; sibling-in-laws, Judy and Mike Henry

He married JoEllen Nantkes on March 30, 1979.

Greg graduated from Lincolnwood High School in 1972 and University of Illinois at Springfield. He served in the Illinois Air National Guard.  He was a farmer and worked for USPS.

He enjoyed farming and livestock, showing sheep with his son, riding horses, camping, sitting around campfires and his dogs.  He was an avid Cardinal fan.  Greg was kind, even tempered and always willing to help. He loved his family, friends, and treasured time with his grandsons.

Surviving are his wife, JoEllen; son, John (Katie) Lyons of Defiance, MO; two grandsons, Jack and Aidan; siblings, Dick (Sharon) Lyons of Harvel, and Jim Lyons of Geneva; brother-in-law, Bob Wankum of Jefferson City, MO; mother-in-law, Gert Brockmeyer; siblings-in-law, Cheryl Nantkes of Raymond, Carol (Mike) Hampton of Waggoner, Susan (Jim) Aherin of Farmersville, Danny (Marty) Nantkes of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Greg (Sheri) Nantkes of Staunton; several nieces and nephews.

Per the family’s request, they have asked that everyone wear a mask for the visitation and funeral.

Visitation will be from 5pm till 7pm, Friday, Aug. 13, 2021 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Chatham with prayer services at 4:30pm.  Funeral Mass will be at 10am, Saturday at the church with Rev. Joe Molloy officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Bernard in Glenarm.
