Gloria Jean Garst, 72 of Palmyra passed away Monday, Aug. 30, 2021 at Carlinville Area Hospital.
She was born Nov. 14, 1948 in Richland, MO; the daughter of Carl and Evelyn Workman Holder. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Marvin, Mervin, Don, Gerald, Carl and Lester Holder; three Annie Basket, Rosie and Mary Holder.
Gloria married Larry Garst on Aug. 27, 1982.
She worked as a waitress at Fiesta in Virden and Grub ‘n Pub in Girard. She later worked and retired from the Secretary of State . Gloria loved to shop at thrift stores and spending time and raising her kids and grandkids.
Surviving are her husband, Larry; three children, Sherry Belt, Susie (Lonnie) Loeschner and Mark Garst; 9 grandchildren, Nick Hornbuckle, Justin (Shayna) Copeland, Holly Copeland, Jimmy Brake, Bailey Garst, Devin (Chelsie) Martin, Karson Garst, Klaire Cole, and Jalane Brake; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kay (John, deceased) Bishop and Dorothy Peck; one brother, George Holder; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021 at Girard Cemetery with Rev. Tim Moats officiating. A dinner will be provided following the graveside at Girard Community Building.
