Glenn Hamilton Obituary

Glenn A. Hamilton, 91 of Williamsville and formerly Loami Il, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at The Bridge Care Suites in Springfield. He was born November 3, 1932 to Frances and Florence (Masters) Hamilton; both preceded him in death.

He was united in marriage in July 1952 to Myrna Fitzsimmons; she died in May of 1997. Also preceding Glenn in death were his son, Joel Wesley (2012), son in law Joel Huber (2008), sister Dolores Kern (2020), and great-grandson Desmond Sedlacek (2011).

Glenn served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a life-long farmer while simultaneously working for the Sangamon County Highway Department. His great love for bluegrass music led him to being a DJ for WSSR for many years. He enjoyed traveling, camping, telling jokes and stories and enjoying a good nap. Glenn also loved to watch college football and attend his grandchildren’s activities and celebrations.

He is survived by his companion of 26 years, Marilyn Heissinger, his three children: Patrice Huber (Bob Kuenzler, companion), J. Brent (Sheila) Hamilton, Jon Nolan (Susan) Hamilton, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his forever daughters in law Patti and Teri and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday August 15 from 10-11am at Chatham Christian Church in Chatham Illinois.  A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation officiated by the Reverend Rick Wenneborg; burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
