Geneva (Geeb) calmly passed away at the family home on Gilreath Road in the wee hours of March 3, 2022. Many in her family assisted in her beautiful passing.
Geneva grew up in rural Chatham, on what is now Gilreath Road, where she and husband, Dave, raised their two sons, Chris and Derek. She had recently moved back to the Springfield area, after living on Oahu for about 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, David Allan Clem, and her parents, Mary Margaret (Clark) Gilreath and Edsel Ford Gilreath.
She leaves behind son Christopher Erick Clem of Chatham and his daughter Jacqueline Louis Clem in Honolulu, and son Derek Collin (Tracee Beard) and their daughter Caitlyn Amber Clem of Greenville, South Carolina. Her five sisters (Carol J. Bumgarner, Grace A. Wisniewski, Malinda K. Paine, Jessica Sharp, Amy J. Gilreath), brother (Michael J. Gilreath), kindred-spirit Pandora Nelson, as well as her six nieces and nephews, will forever remember her warm smile, ornery sense of humor, and classy demeanor.
Geeb held a handful of positions during her career, but her years with the lobbying firm Cook-Witter, Inc., of Springfield, were her most rewarding and helped her define her social values.
A private grave-side service for the family will be held at Cumberland Sugar Creek Cemetery, Glenarm, Illinois, later this spring, with Pastor Paul Dinges of the Sugar Creek United Methodist Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital St. Louis.
