Fred Junior Manship, 92 of Auburn passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 23, 1931 in Decatur, the son of Fred and Della Wooters Manship.
Fred married Loraine Pitchford on July 23, 1950 and she preceded him in death on March 31, 2023. Also, preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Nicholson; one sister, Della Pauline Flowers and one brother, William Richard Manship.
He worked as an electrician for Fiat-Allis for over 30 year and later worked at McDonald Douglas retiring from both. He was a member of the Auburn Christian Church. He received his black belt in Tae Kwon Do and was an amateur radio operator. He ran in many 5k’s. Fred enjoyed traveling with his wife, Loraine of 72 years, visiting all 50 states. They also enjoyed their time square dancing, camping and taking cruises.
Surviving are his four daughters, Alice (Roger) Bettis, Nancy (Del) McCord, Wanda (Charles) Crump and Marjorie (Kenneth) Millburg; one son, Fred Eugene (Carla) Manship; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchild; sister, Kay Kendall; one brother, Jim (Diane) Manship; sister-in-law, Wilma Knapp; brother-in-law, Raymond Pitchford; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12:30pm till time of services at 2pm, Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Auburn Christian Church with Rev. Josh Mangano officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to Auburn Christian Church or Salvation Army.
