Evelyn L. Spelman

Evelyn L. Spelman, 83 of Divernon passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Taylorville Nursing and Rehab.

She was born April 5, 1941 in Springfield, the daughter of J. Chester and Alice Wade White.

Evelyn married James Spelman on June 16, 1968.

She started her career in Divernon as an upholsterer from 1975 to 1980.  She later worked for the State of Illinois as a programmer retiring after 20 years.  After retirement, Evelyn enjoyed trips to the boat, tending to her garden, quilting and spending time with her grandson.

Surviving are her husband, James Spelman; two sons, Brian (Lori) Spelman and Daryl Spelman; one grandson, James (Lynn) Spelman; two great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Maverick; two brothers, David White and Allen (Janey) White; several nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
