Doyle D. Worlow

Doyle D. Worlow, a man of deep faith, kindness, and endless love for all people, 88, of Girard passed away at home on June 24, 2026.

He was born March 3, 1938, the son of Willie and Freeda (Barnhouse) Worlow in rural Zenith, IL. He attended rural elementary schools and Cisne High School.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Linda Darrow Worlow; two daughters: Reada Helpingstine and Liz Trapp; grandchildren, Thomas (Kelly) Helpingstine, Jon Gardner, Randy Gardner (Emily), Jonathan Carl Helpingstine, Alexa Trapp; great grandchildren: Kaitlin, Harper, Cami, Riley; nieces: Dawn (Bill Toland), Sherry (Brian) Reed, Linda (Terry) Garvert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Chlores (Erma) Worlow, Caroll (Maxine) Worlow; sister Garnet (Gene) Martin; grandchildren Abby Trapp Prescott, Brandon Helpingstine, Grant Hodge.

Doyle worked in Southern IL oil fields as a young man. Then he safely logged over a million miles traveling the country for 42 years as an over-the-road truck driver (with Lovelace, Ashland Oil, Western Auto, Nussbaum). Soon after retiring, Doyle became a Girard-Virden school bus driver. He would sing happy birthday, “Elvira”, and many other songs to the delight of his students.

Doyle used his God-given talents to sing and play his upright bass fiddle for churches, community events, and annually for the Lincoln New Salem Candlelight Walk.

Doyle and his wife Linda actively supported and participated in their Girad and Virden communities and their Auburn Baptist Church. He was a 50-year Mason member.

Doyle was a master storyteller who has left a legacy of stories with just about everyone he ever met. Please join the Celebration of Life for a time of enjoying the memories of storyteller Doyle.

Graveside services will be held Monday, June 29, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Cisne Cemetery in Cisne, IL. Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Bramley Funeral Home in Divernon, 150 Reichert Road, followed by Masonic Rites. A Celebration of Life will follow from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the reception center.
