Dorothy L. Flentje

Dorothy L. Flentje, 88 of Thayer passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Sunrise Skilled Nursing and Rehab, Virden.

She was born Feb. 26, 1934 at home in rural Taylorville, the daughter of Roy Edward and Iona Lulu Smith Bryant.

She married Norman Flentje on June 29, 1952 and he preceded her in death on Aug 2, 2020.  Also preceded in death by two infant children, Rebecca and Dennis; one son-in-law, Mike VanBebber; three brothers, Edward “Jack” Lewis Bryant, Robert Lee Bryant, and Richard Ellis Bryant; one sister, Patricia Ann McCoy.

Dorothy worked at Dickey-john and later retired as a bus driver and custodian from Virden Community High School.

Surviving are three children, Linda (Marty) Crews of Girard, Sandra VanBebber of Scottville and Bob (Julie) Flentje of Girard; six grandchildren, Susan (Nic) Cook, Clint (Amy) VanBebber, Amy (David) Clevenger, Dana (Rusty) Stewart, Chase Flentje and Hunter (Brittany) Flentje; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Helen “Mackie” Bryant; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation rites were accorded.

Per Dorothy’s request there will be no services.
