Donald A. Yakus

Donald A. Yakus, 94 of Springfield passed away Friday, November 21, 2025 in Shelbyville, TN.

He was born March 1, 1931 in Auburn, IL, the son of Pete and Stella Tater Yakus.

Donald married Beatrice Halford in 1950 and she preceded him in death in 2022. Also, preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Fedor and Patricia Neville.

Don worked for Ford Motor Company in Yucca, AZ for 38 years before retiring.  He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and playing poker with his boys.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathy Sloan; one son, Kim (companion, Donna) Yakus; four grandchildren Ruth Ann Elwanger, Clayton Elwanger, Samantha Brown, and Adam Yakus; five great grandchildren, Sydney, Ethan, Ayden, Liam, and Lachlan; several nieces and nephews.

Private family graveside services will be held at Auburn Cemetery with Rev. Michael Madden officiating.
