David Lewis

David Lewis, 59, of Farmersville passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2022 in Farmersville of heart failure.

Dave was born May 9, 1963 in Peoria, IL, the second child of George E. Lewis and Shirley Blankenship Lewis.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Jean; his sister, Kathy Jo Lewis, and his fraternal and maternal grandparents.

He grew up in Girard and was a graduate of Girard High School and Wyoming Technical Institute.  He last worked for Caterpillar in Decatur in the Mining Truck Division where he suffered career ending injuries in an accident.

In early years Dave liked hanging out with his friends and river fishing.  He loved to attend Sprint Car Races with his dad in Illinois  and Indiana.  Dave went through some difficult times in his life but had many friends.

Dave is survived by his children, Morgan Reynolds of Springfield and Abigail Bone of Sullivan, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Also surviving are his parents, George E. Lewis and Karen Lueschen Lewis of Champaign, his brother Father Alaric (Mark) Lewis and Maurizio Farina of Norwich, United Kingdom.

His parents wish to extend to the Harlan Murphy family of Farmersville their sincere thanks for their heart felt kindness to David and for helping him realize his worthiness.

As per David’s wish, cremation rites were accorded.  Part of these cremains will be taken, when it’s springtime, to the Illinois River near the Browning Navigational Life south of Havana.  There will be a private family service in late spring Stearns Cemetery, Fithian, IL.
