David Belknap, 83 of Divernon passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 12, 1942 in Rockford; the son of Monral (Red) and Bernice Edwards Belknap. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Monie Belknap; one sister, Joyce Belknap Simpson and one grandson, Jacob Belknap-Jones.
David served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Rockford College and his Masters degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
He owned and operated Modern Mailing and Printing in Springfield. He also taught at Special Education Rockford, Southern Illinois University, Lincoln Land Community College and Robert Morris College.
Surviving are his wife, Donna; two daughters, LeAnne Belknap-Rudin and Melissa Belknap; two sons, Jonathan E. Elmore and Matthew D. (Donna Counts) Elmore; three grandchildren, Hannah (Dylan), Anthony (Alexis) and Lukas Rudin; one great-grandson, Xavier Rudin; sisters and brothers in law, Jan and Joe Klein, Nancy and Bill Beaty, Brenda and Darrel Nation and Brian Bearden.
Celebration of Life will be held from 1pm till 4pm, Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Bramley Funeral Home Reception Center, 150 Reichert Rd, Divernon.
Memorial may be made to the Divernon American Legion Auxiliary.
