Damon C. Smith

Damon C. Smith, 79 of Beardstown, formerly of Divernon passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Accolade Healthcare of Peoria.

He was born April 2, 1947 in Springfield, the son of Alex and Marie Wooderchak Smith.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, David and James.

Damon married Betty Fishburn on October 1, 1966.

Damon served in the U.S. Army.  He was accomplished hobby pilot and enjoyed drag racing.  He had a passion for adventure including scuba diving, canoeing and anything with a motor.  Damon worked for 40 years as a substation electrician, keeping your lights on.

Surviving are his wife, Betty; two sons, Chris (Amy) Smith and Craig (Carla) Smith; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one nephew, Stewart Smith.

Graveside services will be held at 1pm, Friday, May 29, 2026 at Brush Creek Cemetery, Divernon.
