Christopher “Chris” Mark Chambers, 31, of Chatham, died on Dec. 26, 2021 at 1:30 am, at Springfield Medical Hospital.
Chris was born December 27, 1989, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL, the son of Valerie (Tinsley) McGrath and Mark Chambers. His Stepfather is Mike McGrath. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Phyllis M Tinsley; grandfather, Vess Chambers; grandmother, Jean Ann Chambers; uncle, Randy Chambers and good friend John “Johnny” Armstead.
He graduated from Glenwood High School in 2008.
An avid sports fan, Chris followed many college and professional teams. He loved the Chicago Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks, as well as the Tennessee Titans. His favorite baseball team was the St. Louis Cardinals. He rooted for the Indiana Hoosiers in basketball and the Iowa Hawkeyes in football.
Chris was a very kind and generous person who was loved by many in return. He was a proud son, brother, and incredible friend to many. He loved his two cats Blaze and Carter. Chris had a unique ability to brighten up any room with his presence. A talented athlete who enjoyed all sports, he was a force to be reckoned with in fantasy football, baseball, and basketball. He was passionate about video games, a dedicated and talented gamer. Music was always an important part of his life, but his greatest passion was spending time with friends and family.
Chris leaves behind a legacy based upon his shining example of how to treat everyone with kindness and love.
He is survived by his mother, Valerie (husband, Mike) McGrath; father, Mark Chambers; sister, Sarah J. Tinsley; step-sisters, Kara Connolly, Linnea Clark, and Julia McGrath; grandfather, Fred Thomas Tinsley; significant other, Mikhail Findlay and her children: Kaelynn, Brantley, and Violet; aunts and uncles: Kim and Mike Carver, Fred and Diane Tinsley, Mary Jo and Tom Carver, Sally Tinsley Finley, Thomas Tinsley, Dennis Chambers and Chris Chambers; cousins: Stuart, Thomas, Andy, Kate, Becky Jo, Michael “Buddy”, Melissa, Tyler, Isaac and Emily.
Per CDC and Governor’s mandate masks are required in the building.
Visitation will be from 10am till time of services at 12noon, Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 700 E. Spruce St., Chatham, IL. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
The family will host a Celebration of Life at 2pm, Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 at the Firefighters Club, 940 W. Lakeshore Dr., Springfield, IL.
