Charles "Big C" Combs

Charles “Big C” Combs, 74 of Loami passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Sarah Bush Lincoln in Mattoon.

He was born January 29, 1949 in Springfield, the son of Edward and Gloria Dalzell Combs.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward Combs, Jr and John Glen Ray Combs.

Charles was known as a great basketball player receiving a full ride to Lincoln College.  He was a member of ABATE Carpenters Union and Sangamon County Sheriffs.  He enjoyed working on motorcycles and riding. He never knew a stranger and was known everywhere he went.  He was known as Papa Harley to his grandkids.

Surviving are four children, Jeffrey Allen (Amy) Combs of New Berlin, Jen (John) Combs of Charleston, Jason Charles (Melissa) Combs of Loami, and Jessie (Renee) Combs of Springfield; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at Bramley Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will be at a later date in Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Loami.
