Charles R. Cook, 80 of Dawson, formerly of Divernon, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026 at his home.
He was born March 19, 1945 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Charles Doyle and Alice Mary Backovitch Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Doyle Cook; two sisters, Viola Papai and Anna Louise Katcher; step-daughter, Jeannie Hansen.
He married Donna Norman Bea on August 10, 1996.
Charlie was employed as a driver’s license examiner for the Secretary of State, a police officer in Mason City and Mason County, was as an administrate assistant for the Illinois State Fair and retired from CWLP electric department.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Greg Cook; step-son, Tom Bea; step-daughter, Erin Bea and several grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:30am till time of memorial service at 11:30am, Saturday, May 2, 2026 at South Tower Community Church, 1350 S. Tower Rd, Dawson, IL 62520, with Pastor Charlie Carver officiating. Private burial will be at a later date in Brush Creek Cemetery, Divernon.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mechanicsburg Fire Department, 402 Main St., Mechanicsburg, IL 62545.
