Charles Todd Beard

Charles Todd Beard “Todd” passed away Monday, May 22, 2023. 

He was born July 11, 1969 in Springfield IL, the son of Cheryl J Millett Beard and Bernie R Beard.  He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents, Emmabelle and Herbert Millett and paternal grandparents, Norma and Charles Beard.

Todd worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 35 years, retiring July 31, 2022.  He was also a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local #138 for 25+ years.

Todd married Kelli Ames Plessa on July 13, 2010 in Auburn IL. 

Some of Todd’s favorite things were being with family and friends, riding and racing motorcycles and dirt bikes in his younger days, attending Supercross events, boxer dogs, and traveling, with Mexico and Arizona being his favorite destinations.  Todd didn’t know a stranger and loved talking to everyone.

Todd is survived by his wife, Kelli; son, Bryce (companion Brittany Rolland); stepdaughter, Liz Plessa; brother, Terry Beard  (wife Donna); nieces, Ellison Eaker and Emily Beard; aunt, Kathy Beard and cousin, Kristina Hagen.  Todd also had three stepchildren from a previous marriage, Zach, Morgan and Alex.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 4:00pm till 7:00pm at Bramley Funeral Home in Auburn.  Cremation rites accorded. 

Todd requested everyone wear jeans (or shorts).

Memorials can be directed to the Sangamon County Animal Protective League or Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU School of Medicine and will be received by Bramley Funeral Home, who is honored to be caring for Todd’s family.
