Carol J. Stockdale

Carol J. Stockdale, 97, of Springfield, formerly of Auburn, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Concordia Village.

She was born April 9, 1926 in Springfield, the daughter of Clarence and Alice Grundmeier Pare.

She married Charles Hoyt Purdom in 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1963.  She later married James Stockdale in 1973 and he preceded her in death in 2012.  Also, preceded in death by one son, Paul Hoyt Purdom in 2000.

Carol was very active in her church and volunteering at the hospital.

Surviving are one son, Greg (Linda) Purdom; two daughters, Cathy Meadows and Jill (Jeff) Kaufman; one daughter-in-law, Laurie Purdom; one step-daughter, Onda (Dick) Lynch; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Pat Earleywine; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10am till time of services at 11am, Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Concordia Village Chapel with Rev. Jeff Harter officiating.  Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Concordia Village Scholarship Fund.
