Carl J. Clarizio Jr., 69 of Pawnee passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.
He was born Jan. 21, 1952 at Fort Dix, NJ the son of Carl J. and Gloria Lenzi Clarizio.
Carl married Katharine “Ann” Rutherford on Oct. 12, 1985 and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Carl served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Divernon. Carl was an active volunteer serving as Cub Scout Master, past President of Pawnee Ambulance Service, and very active in Shotokan Karate Club in Pawnee. He worked as a nurse most of his life, serving in many different capacities, and was an advocate for the profession. His hobbies included traveling, exotic plants and animals, and supporting his children in their endeavors.
Surviving are one daughter, Katharine “Katie” Clarizio; one son, Carl “C.J.” Clarizio III; two brothers, Robert (Tracy) and William (Kimberly) Clarizio; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 pm until time of services at 2:30 pm Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021 at Pawnee United Methodist Church with Pastor Seth Ventress and Rev. Chuck Kurfman officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Burial of ashes will be in Horse Creek Cemetery, Pawnee.
