Carl E. Renken, 88 of Auburn passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 29, 1929 in Auburn, the son of John and Minnie Stuckemeyer Renken.
He married Harriett Boesdorfer on Aug. 27, 1950 and she preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 2003. Also, preceded by one sister, Verna Hallstein.
Mr. Renken was a lifelong farmer. He was a founder and active member of Auburn Trinity Lutheran Church. He served on the board that started Lutheran Retirement Home now known as Concordia Village in Springfield. He was active in the Auburn community as well.
Surviving are his daughters, Patricia (James) Lovell of Rougemont, NC and Peggy (William) Atteberry of Auburn; a son, Thomas (Linda Repking) Renken of Effingham; multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren who spent time visiting on the farm; sisters, Dorothy Singley of Normal and Irma (James) Speeks of Springfield; brothers, Leonard (Elta) Renken of Springfield and John Herman (Florence) Renken of High Point, NC; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 from 4 till 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn. Additional visitation will be Saturday at the church from 9:30 till time of services at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Martin Kaufmann officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.
