Brian R. McKinney, 65 of Virden, formerly of Chatham, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Sunrise Manor in Virden, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was born October 23, 1959, in Clinton, IL, the son of Gerald and Mary Seibert McKinney. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Aaron McKinney.
Brian is survived by his long-time partner, wife and soul mate, Kristine Cywinski-McKinney.
Brian was tougher than nails! A beautifully stubborn man who fought for what he believed and defended his loved ones with a passion. If he loved you, you knew it! He treasured his mother and, compliments of his dad, he was an experienced CNC machinist and jack of all trades who used those big, rugged hands to help those in need of assistance.
Brian cherished his three daughters, Carla (Nathan) Osterholt, Angie (Andy) Beal and Lacey (companion, Luke Dowdy) Minnis; and seven grandkids, Kirsten and Kade Osterholt, Addy Beal, Raylee and Evey Minnis and Max and Ruby Dowdy; mother, Mary McKinney; sister, Sonya (Tim) Chapman; ex-son-in-law, Corey Minnis; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dog, Snickers. Brian had more true friends than you can count. His presence remains surrounding those he loved and leaves behind with peace and comfort.
Cremation rites were accorded.
A Celebration of Life will be held at A.J.’s Corner in Chatham, IL on February 15, 2025, from 1pm to 4 pm.
