Bertie (Bruner) Basiewicz, recently of Auburn, IL, passed away at home in Pine Bluff, AR on Saturday, July 24, 2021.
She was born November 17, 1944, in Kentucky. She was the youngest child of George and Lucy Bruner. She is preceded in death by her husband Steve Basiewicz, her parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
She graduated Freetown High School in Freetown, Indiana in 1963. She met her husband her senior year of high school and married him two years later. Their early marriage saw her living up and down the east coast as a Navy wife. They returned to Indiana before finally settling in central Illinois, where she lived the majority of her life.
Bertie worked as a supervisor/troubleshooter in an electronic assembly factory where she honed her natural organization skills. She was the first employee outside of the founder’s family. She enjoyed being outside, working in the yard, riding motorcycles, and crossword puzzles. She was loved and will be missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her son Steven Tod Basiewicz of Chagrin Falls, OH, her daughter Lori Anne Basiewicz of Pine Bluff, AR, her life companion Grover Sargeant of Raymond, IL, two sisters, her grandson Talon Basiewicz, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved cat BG.
Visitation will be from 10am till time of services at 11am, Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn.
