Bernadine "Bernie" M. Burg

Bernadine “Bernie” M. Burg, 92, of Auburn, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in Springfield, IL. 

Bernie was born October 7, 1933, in Mt. Olive, IL, the daughter of Matt and Mary (Gorsich) Mihelcic. 

Bernie married Edward Joseph Burg on June 11, 1955, in Mt. Olive, IL.  She was a member of St. Benedict’s Church and Holy Cross Parish, both of Auburn, IL.  Ed preceded her in death on May 23, 2018.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, sister, Margaret Steinhauser, sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Ron Ruppe, brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Marlene Mihelcic, Henry and Darlene Mihelcic, Donald and Dorothy Mihelcic, sister-in-law, Lois Mihelcic, and brother-in-law, Dan Rhodes. 

Survivors include her brother, John Mihelcic of Mt. Olive, IL; sister, Catherine Rhodes of Eagarville, IL; her sons, Edward A. and James Burg, both of Divernon, IL, John (Anne) Burg of Springfield, IL, and daughter, Mary Elizabeth (George) Smaistrla of Manvel, TX; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10am until time of services at 11am on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Bramley Funeral Home, 150 Reichart Rd, Divernon, IL.  Burial immediately following at Brush Creek Cemetery, Divernon, IL.
