Neil D. Hurley, 87 of Auburn, died Saturday, July 14, 2018 at his home.
He was born May 19, 1931 in Glenarm, IL the son of Paul and Gladys Pratt Hurley. They preceded him in death.
He married Betty Jo Bowman August 31, 1950. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty; 3 brothers, Melvin, Paul and Dean Hurley and a sister, Louise Moore.
Neil served in the United States Airforce and was a Korean War Veteran. Prior to his service, he helped run his family’s business, Hurley Dairy. He retired in 1983 after 31 years at Fiat Allis. He was a member of Ark and Anchor Lodge #354, American Legion and Auburn Christian Church. He volunteered at Salvation Army and was active in many veteran’s organizations while living in Branson. He was a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by one son, Charles (wife Carol) Hurley of Auburn, IL; two daughters, Neila (husband Don) Cornelius of West Salem, IL and Kaye (husband Brian) Rector of Auburn; 16 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and two nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 till 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Bramley Funeral Home in Auburn with Masonic Services at 7 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with his grandson, Pastor Travis Hurley and Pastor David VanBebber officiating.
Burial will be in Cumberland Sugar Creek Cemetery in Glenarm with military honors conducted by Auburn American Legion and VFW.
