Lloyd Eugene "Gene" McDonald

Lloyd Eugene “Gene” McDonald, 86, of Chatham passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017 at his home.

He was born March 28, 1931 in Garrett, IL; the son of Ruby and Irene McDonald.  He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy E. McDonald.

Gene married Barbara Hawk on Nov. 29, 1951.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.  Gene was a Grand American Champion in trap shooting. He was self-employed as a septic contractor, fur and wool buyer, and land developer.

Surviving are his wife, Barb; children, Susan Landry, Neil (Mary Lynn) McDonald, Randy (Nancy) McDonald, Deanna Williams; daughter-in-law, Sharon McDonald; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (June) McDonald; several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 at the Chatham American Legion from 4 p.m. till 7 p.m.  Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
