Harold Everette Hay, 89, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Divernon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 2, 2018, in Tucson, Arizona, after a long illness.
Harold, the son of the late Frank and Stella “Fern” (Alspaugh) Hay, was a 1947 graduate of Divernon High School. He attended Illinois Western University before transferring to what is now Arizona State University, graduating in 1951 with a degree in Education. He then served in the U.S. Army until 1953, during which time he married the late Beatrice A. (Warrington) Hay on May 10th, 1953, in Springfield. After military service, he returned to Illinois before relocating permanently to Arizona in 1956. Harold taught Industrial Arts at Madison #1 Elementary School in Phoenix, until his retirement in 1986.
Survivors include his sister, Anita; sons David, William, John, and Mark, daughter Mary Salazar, as well as 8 grandchildren.
A celebration of life, open to all who knew him, will take place at the historic Corona Ranch, 7595 E. Snyder Rd, Tucson AZ 85740, on March 9th, 2019, between 11am-1pm. Internment has taken place at The Southern Arizona Veteran’s Cemetery, Sierra Vista, AZ.
