Nora Jane Cray

Nora Jane Cray, 94, of Pawnee passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at Heritage Health Care in Carlinville.

She was born October 30, 1924 in Pawnee, the daughter of Howard and Mary A. McCormick.

She married Bill Cray on January 14, 1948 and he preceded her in death on September 29, 1983.  Also, preceded in death by one sister, Mary Jordan and three brothers, Howard (Mac), Arthur (Artie) and Lawrence (Pat) McCormick.

Nora Jane graduated from Pawnee High School and St. John’s School of Nursing.  She later received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees.  She worked as a school nurse in the Auburn and Pawnee schools for many years.

She is survived by three sons, Pat (Brenda) of Jacksonville, Mike (Cindy) of Joliet and Joe (Judy) of Morrisonville; one daughter, Mary Janet Cray of Topeka, KS; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Sr. Margaret McCormick of Springfield.

Visitation will be from 10am till time of funeral mass at 11am, Monday, November 26, 2018 at St. Benedict’s Church, Auburn with Rev. James Palakudy officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pawnee.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s School of Nursing.
