Velma Katherine (Hawes) Elliott, 91, of Auburn, died Monday, February 25, 2013 at 1:15 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center.
Katherine was born August 15, 1921 the daughter of Ed and America Hawes. She married John Carl Elliott of Toledo, IL on February 15, 1942 in Lincoln County, MO and he preceded her in death. Katherine was also preceded in death by one son, Carl Elliott, one grandchild, one great grandchild, and six siblings.
Katherine was a lifelong Cardinals fan, enjoyed playing lottery instant tickets, and playing cards. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family.
Surviving are five daughters, Louann (Carl, deceased) Troyer of Eureka, Lorraine (Ed, deceased) Sawyer of Wilmington, Janice Whitaker of Lakeland, FL, Loretta (Bill) Franke of Chatham, Wendy (Patrick) Osburn of Auburn; one daughter-in-law, Jan Elliot of Girard,; 19 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and one on the way; four great great grandchildren; four siblings, Elwood Hawes and Dean Hawes both of Greenup, Judy Bronic of Minooka, and Donna Henson of Wilmington.
Visitation will be from 5 till 7 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. David VanBebber officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
