Shirley Mae Maier

Shirley Mae Maier, 91 of Chatham passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 at Auburn Nursing and Rehab.

She was born May 6, 1926, the daughter of Carl and Anna Burdinsky Riech.

She married Joseph Maier on Oct. 22, 1949 and he preceded her in 1987.  Also preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Gallaher and Rita Carol Riech and one great-grandson, Dexter Flesch.

She will be most remembered by those who knew and loved her for her unparalleled kindness and selfless devotion to family.

She is survived by one daughter, Janice; five grandchildren, Joshua Turley, Nicole (Peter) Smith, Rachael Gladden, Rebecca Gladden, Hannah Gladden; seven great-grandchildren, Griffin, Emma, Alanna, Declan, Kayleigh and Nola; one brother, Richard (Mary) Riech; several nieces and nephews. 

A private family service will be held.  Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mini O’Beirne Crisis Center.
