Sarah M. (Scott) Yakus

Sarah M. Scott Yakus, 32, of Auburn passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at her home.

She was born November 15, 1983 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Jere and Vicky Galloway Scott.

She married Adam Yakus on September 13, 2014.

Sarah graduated from Jacksonville High School.  She earned her associates degree from Lincoln Land Community College and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She later earned her Master of Science in Education Administration.

Sarah enjoyed traveling with her husband.  She enjoyed working out and being with family and friends.  She was a dedicated educator, who was loved by all her students and faculty.  Sarah touched many, many lives.

Surviving are her husband, Adam; her parents, Jere and Vicky Scott of Springfield; four siblings, Tony (Sharon) Scott, Theresa (Jim) Twyford, Todd (Chris) Scott and Mark (Lettie) Scott; LoisAnn “Nana” Bentley; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; beloved dogs, Daisie and Kylee.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. till 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Auburn United Methodist Church. Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. till time of services at 11 a.m., Thursday at the Auburn United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Caughlan, Rev. J. Cook, and Rev. Nathaniel Kern officiating.  Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.
