Rosemary E McPhail Barbee, 93, of Farmersville passed Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center.

She was born January 26, 1924 in Divernon, the only child of Mary and Jerry McPhail.

She married Robert Barbee on August 2, 1946 and he preceded her in death on December 12, 1977. She is also preceded in death by her son, George W McPhail on May 23, 2014.

She was an active member of Eastern Star since 1954 in which she was a Worthy Matron 8 times and most recently part of the Palmyra Chapter 453. She was a member of the Girard Methodist Church since 1982 where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Waggoner American Legion Auxiliary. She was a homemaker all her life who loved to cook, knit, and crochet. She worked uptown Farmersville in the restaurant for many years before it closed. Her family knew her for having the best biscuits and gravy. Rose knitted even after she was declared legally blind. She made blankets, throws, and washcloths for everyone she knew and didn’t know. She was an avid collector of teapots and penguins and at one time had over 200 teapots! Rose was often called Shorty by her family.

Surviving is her daughter-in-law Helma McPhail of Farmersville; three granddaughters, Brenda Beal of Jacksonville, Donna (Brandon) Snyder of Glenarm, and Missy (Mary) McPhail of Pittsfield, four great-grandchildren Peyton and Danyon Beal of Jacksonville and Faith and Jonah Snyder of Glenarm.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2017 at Bramley Funeral Home in Divernon.  Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Smith officiating.  Burial will be in Providence Cemetery, Waggoner.

Memorials may be made to Farmersville/Waggoner Library or family choice.
